“This login failed. Attempt to log in again or contact your System Administrator”

Hi!

We are attempting some Disaster Recovery testing and we virtualized the GP Application Server but not the GP SQL Server.

When attempting to log into GP on the virtualized Server, we receive /This login failed.  Attempt to log in again or contact your System Administrator/.  Doesn't matter which User or the even the SA Account.  We can still ping the GP SQL Server while on the virtualized Server.
 
We are using the Remote Desktop Connection to access the GP Application Server and we have no problem accessing it.  We also have a 3rd Party application running on that virtualized server and that seems to work fine.
 
Looking for any ideas as to what look for or try.

    Hey Karl,
     
    Does the ODBC Data Source (32 Bit) for Dynamics GP on the GP Application Server test successfully using the 'sa' SQL login?  That would be one of first steps to identify if SQL Native Client and configuration of ODBC.

    Hey Karl,
     
    Give the following a try and see if this corrects the issue:
     
    1. Open the Dex.ini for the install of GP that is on the virtual server.
    2. Locate the Initial and Synchronization line to TRUE and save the file.
    3. Start GP utilities and try to log in with sa.
    4. If it allows you to login, continue through the process until you get to the Additional Tasks window.
    5. In the additional tasks window, select Synchronize Forms and Reports.
    6. Click Next.
    7. Select the Dynamics.set file and click Synchronize.
    8. Test if you can now log into GP.

    If you still have issues, I suggest touching base with your partner to get a deeper look at this to figure out why you are not able to log in. 
     
    If you do not have a partner or are in the process of looking for a new one, Enavate would be happy to take a look with you to determine why you are not able to log in when on the Virtualized server.

    Hi, thanks for your response. Maybe you can check that if the issue was caused by different subversions of the SQL Native Client on the client machines. Once the versions were updated to match, the issue may be resolved.

    We've already checked all of these items and none of them have resolved our issues.
     
    Looking for any other ideas.  Our next step may include also virtualizing our GP SQL Server.
