On-premise BYOD

Hello Community,

I have an on-premise deployment of FnO and we want to use PowerBI for dashboards etc using the BYOD concept.

But, the Microsoft documentation talks about connecting the on-premise database to an Azure SQL db for creating and syncing a BYOD database. Is there a way to create an on-premise BYOD database and connect to it with PowerBI ?

Appreciate help/suggestions on this.

Thanks

    Hello,

I suggest you check the connection. When you click on "Validate," you should see the following message:
"Tests completed successfully. Current BYOD tier is 'ElasticPool'."

    Best regards,

    Hi Mandeep,

Yes, there is a way to create a local BYOD database and this database will be hosted on a local SQL Server environment. Ensure that the environment is scaled up if the data count is more than 1 million transactions.

Connection string to connect to the local BYOD Database:
    Data Source=<SQLServerName>;Initial Catalog="BYOD";Integrated Security=False;User ID=axdbadmin;Password=<axdbadminpassword>

    PowerBI Connection:
In this case, you will have to setup a PowerBI gateway and point your connection to the byod database. The gateway has to be setup for the same to work.

    A few questions:
    1. Will this be an entity store push
    2. Or Will this be a proper BYOD data entities publishing that publishes the corresponding staging tables in the above mentioned BYOD database?
