Inventory less reservations?

Hi guys

The stock calculations in the base system don't seem to work for me.

I need a "free to sell" calculation because we load preorders into the system, but also sell day to day on the B2B. Some of the preorders don't need to come from current inventory but some do. Some products have long lead times but some have short lead times. Some products are seasonal etc.

There are 4 basic calculations already in the system, but there isn't one that works across all scenarios,

Inventory
Inventory minus sales
Inventory plus purchases
Projected available stock

The reservation worksheet makes sense for us and is similar to our old system so we are happy to use that but BC doesn't seem to have an inventory less reserved report? Or have I missed it?

Another thing that could work is if we could apply a date filter within the projected available stock calculation, so for instance if a purchase order is 6 months away we need to ignore it for the free stock calculation. Do you think this is possible?

Many thanks
Chris

If you want to sell items not in inventory, you could enable the allow negative inventory flag on inventory setup page.

    Hi there!

These complex inventory scenarios may require a bit of customization.
Have you thought about a custom report or custom calculation field to manage this?
You could apply a date filter within the projected available stock calculation - you could create a custom measure in Power BI to calculate the projected stock by excluding purchase orders beyond a certain date?

there are also some enhanced planning extensions you can obtain which may make sense for your organization's unique scenarios?

    hope this helps!
