"Posted By" field for Inventory Adjustment journal showing wrong user name

Hi Experts,

We're facing an issue with the inventory adjustment journal after it has been successfully posted. "Posted By" field for Inventory Adjustment journal is showing wrong user name i.e. the user whose name is displayed in the "posted by" field has not posted it. Any idea how can this happen? Also, please suggest ideas to rectify and which form/tables to check for this.

Thanks in advance,
Shivam

Just a few things to help troubleshoot this situation further:

Can you please describe the exact process you are using to post the Inventory Adjustment journal? (For example, manual posting vs batch job, or if multiple tabs are open.)

Have you checked the user log entries to see if there were two sessions open for the same user around the time the journal was posted? Sometimes, a user could be logged in from another session (remote desktop, another browser) and that can cause confusion.

It might also be a good idea to ask the user to change their password and monitor if the issue happens again — just to rule out any potential session conflicts or shared credential usage.

Would be great if you can confirm these points — it might help isolate whether this is a technical issue or a user session mix-up.

    Thanks,

    Zain

    Hi,

Is the column visible in the standard view from Microsoft or did you insert the column? If you have inserted it, could you share a screenshot from which table you inserted it?

    Kind regards, Adis

    Hi Zain & Ramit,

The issue is happening to manually posted journals. We're not able to consciously replicate the scenarios but it is happening for quite a few of them. So a user who has been in the system for a while is having multiple journals "Posted By" on his/her name but they have not actually posted them.
The environment and setup including 'person' seems to be fine.

We see that the Posted By field is fetching the data from InventJournalTable. Are there any other tables which could be casuing this kind of issue?

    Hi,

Though this is something I have not seen but technically can you check the "Person" field is the user setup? is this same as user name or mismatch?

If still you cant get the answer, I would suggest to raise to MS as Sev A case if happned in Production.

    Hi Shivam,

Thanks for raising this — it’s actually quite unusual for the “Posted by” field to show an incorrect user, as that value is system-populated at the time of posting.

A few things to clarify so we can help better:

Are you able to replicate this issue consistently?

Was the journal posted manually or via batch job or workflow?

Could it be that the user who actually posted was logged in under another user’s session (e.g. shared machine or remote session)?

If possible, please share screenshots of the journal header, including the Posted By field, and any relevant posting method details. That would really help in narrowing it down.

This shouldn’t happen under normal conditions — so let’s try to rule out environment/setup scenarios.

Let me know about the outcome,

    Warm Regards,

    Zain
