The 'find facts with Copilot (preview)' job won't complete

Hi everyone,

I ran the find facts with Copilot (preview) function on a document for the very first time about 5 days ago, but any new find facts job that I try to initiate after the first one consistently results in the following error:

"Copilot is already looking for facts
You'll be able to look for more facts after this process completes"

But I also encountered this error (see below), which seems to be related to the one mentioned above, though with some more technical details.

NB: I did of course enable the allow fact finding with Copilot parameter located in Settings \ External reporting prior to initiating any fact finding job.

I can't imagine for the initial job to take more than even an hour, so I'm assuming the job simply hangs or some other dependencies misfired.

I looked into the system jobs form within Power Platform Environment Settings, but I wasn't able to find any jobs that looked remotely related to the find facts job that had been initiated, so I'm puzzled as to how to investigate the issue any further.

Any thoughts on how to fix this issue?

    Hi there!

Good evening, afternoon, or morning :) depending on your location!

Apologies if you've tried these already, here are a few thoughts:
    • check system jobs to ensure no pending or stuck jobs are in the environment. Look for any jobs that might be related to the copilot feature as sometimes jobs may not be clearly labeled
    • when able, though power platform admin center, restart the environment - this can sometimes clear out any stuck processes
    • as always, clear your browser's cache and cookies
    • since you were able to run the initial job it isn't likely to be permissions but good to double check you have msdyn_esgreportingappsetting permission
    • review logs / log files for additional details
    • double check the version you are running to make sure a patch isn't available which may resolve

    hope this helps some!
