Pallet Build

I have been reviewing supply chain management Microsoft training documentation and I am struggling to find any mention of Pallet build functionality with configuration.

I would define the pallet build process as the ability to link carton LPNs (child) to a pallet LPN (parent) based on a clearly defined set of rules based on disposition, current location and location capacity for example.

Does this functionality exist on D365 WOM with config

This is massively helpful information, thank you so much. I am currently creating a requirements list for my business and ensuring that D365 WOM is the correct tool to suit our needs. While completing I am identifying perceived gaps and trying to close them as I go which you are helping me to do!

I believe most of the "Gaps" I identify will be down to my lack of understanding of the tool or gaps in the online training documentation but i don't want to Assume anything.

I will keep posting questions on here and would appreciate more of your input, you clearly have a deep knowledge of the product.

Good morning, afternoon, or evening - depending on your location :)
    Hope you are well today!

Dynamics 365 Warehouse Only Mode (WOM) does offer functionality related to pallet building, but it requires specific configurations and setups.
    Pallet Build Functionality
    • Linking Carton LPNs to Pallet LPNs: Dynamics 365 WOM supports the concept of nested license plates, where child LPNs (cartons) can be linked to a parent LPN (pallet). This can be configured based on rules such as disposition, location, and capacity.
    • Outbound Sorting Feature: The outbound sorting functionality allows you to build pallets from containers packed through the packing process. Containers can be grouped under a single pallet LPN based on predefined rules.
    • Location Directives and Wave Templates: You can use location directives and wave templates to define how inventory is moved and grouped during the pallet build process.
    Configuration Steps
    1. Enable Outbound Sorting: Ensure the outbound sorting feature is activated in the Feature Management workspace.
    2. Set Up Sorting Locations: Create sorting locations and assign them to the appropriate location profiles.
    3. Define Packing Policies: Configure packing policies to specify how containers are grouped and moved to sorting locations.
    4. Create Sorting Templates: Use sorting templates to define the rules for grouping containers into pallets.
This functionality provides flexibility for managing pallet builds, but it may require additional customization to meet specific business requirements.

    Hope this helps :)
