Consolidating shipments for several customer accounts?

(2) ShareShare

Hi all,

Scenario is this:
We will get 5 orders for 5 different customer accounts in our sales legal entity - one order for each of these 5 separate customer accounts.
All these orders will be delivered via 5 matching intercompany (IC) orders created in our warehouse legal entity.
When these 5 separate IC orders are released to warehouse, we want to consolidate all 5 shipments to just 1 shipment in the warehouse legal entity - is this possible, and if so, how?
I know it is possible when all shipments originate from the exact same customer account in our sales legal entity - but can the consolidation be done for orders / shipments across several customer accounts?

    Good day Jesper,

I believe this is not possible, as standard Dynamics does not allow you to remove the account number from the shipment consolidation policy:

My advice would be to either develop a customization or submit an idea on the Ideas portal.

    Best regards,

    Hi,
Please check, here based on my Client's needs I have made a consolidation policy which consolidates shipments based on account number, delivery recipient (In case of multiple delivery addresses, Warehouses and Mode of delivery.

    Hi,

Yes, it is possible to consolidate shipments across different customer accounts, but it depends on how you configure the Shipment consolidation policy.

    Uploaded image

As shown in the attached screenshot, the Shipment consolidation policy defines which fields must match in order to consolidate multiple shipments into one.

To allow consolidation across different customer accounts, make sure the field Account number (AccountNum) is not selected in the "Selected Fields" section of your policy. If it's selected (as in the screenshot), shipments will only consolidate when the customer account is the same.

So, to consolidate 5 intercompany orders from different customer accounts into one shipment in the warehouse legal entity, you should:

    Use advanced warehouse management

Configure a shipment consolidation policy that excludes AccountNum

Include only relevant fields (e.g., delivery address, warehouse, mode of delivery, etc.)

This setup allows you to consolidate shipments based on delivery criteria rather than customer identity.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,

    Zain

Good morning, afternoon, or evening depending on your location!

Yes, it is possible to consolidate shipments across several customer accounts in your warehouse legal entity, but it requires specific configurations in Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. Here's how you can achieve this:
    1. Shipment Consolidation Policies:
Dynamics 365 allows you to configure shipment consolidation policies that define rules for grouping shipments during the release to the warehouse. You can set up policies to consolidate shipments based on criteria such as destination, mode of delivery, or other shared attributes across orders. This can include orders from different customer accounts.
    2. Manual Consolidation:
If automated policies don't meet your needs, you can manually consolidate shipments using the Consolidate Shipments page or the Shipment Consolidation Workbench. This approach lets you group shipments after they are released to the warehouse.
    3. Advanced Warehouse Management (WMS):
Ensure that your warehouse is enabled for advanced WMS processes. This is necessary for using shipment consolidation features effectively.
    4. Custom Queries:
When setting up consolidation policies, you can use custom queries to specify the conditions under which shipments should be grouped. For example, you can create a query that includes all intercompany orders regardless of the originating customer account.
    5. Fallback Policy:
To ensure no shipments are missed, create a default fallback policy that applies to all warehouses and groups by order number. This ensures that shipments are consolidated even if specific criteria aren't met.

    Hope this helps some!
