Hi All

What is the use of standard cost field when it comes to average cost items and how does it get calculated? I'd assume that the field should be zero in below scenario (item has not transactions):

Item Card Standard Cost Field For Average/FIFO Cost Items

In addition, this field can only be edited when the Costing Method is Standard.

It will not be updated when posting purchases,receipt etc.

But if your item is created by Copy Item feature or imported from Configuration Package, it may have value.

Item Card Standard Cost Field For Average/FIFO Cost Items

There’s no practical use for it; you can essentially hide this field. I’m guessing it was populated before the item had any transactions and when the costing method was different. More info can be found here.
