Adding new field to a table that has nearly 140 fields slows the deployment time in production

Hi experts,

I have a table which is mainly used for reporting and inquiry purposes. We refresh the data in the table periodically to get actuals data from transactions and many other. Whenever we introduce a new field to the table and deploy it, the deployment timing is getting more in production. Usually we add some real fields to the table in recent requirements.

Is there any way that we could avoid this or consider some best practice of adding a new field to a table which already has around 140 fields?

Or is there anyway that we could change the base framework itself to address such situations?

Any inputs can help
Thank you in advance.

    Hi Raj Borad,

Thank you for the response. This is a custom table.

It stores details about project transactions in F&O. This is used in some calculations, inquries and reports as well. It's kind of a central hub which supplies data to the entire module.

The issue for us is, if we add a new field to the table, the sync time is longer during the deployment process. My question is, is it something unavoidable for a table which has 140+ fields with millions of records or is there any workaround to make the deployment complete in normal duration even when a field is been added.

    Hi,

Is the table being new table or standard table with customizations? can you please elaborate with an example that the table stores what type of data?
If it's only used for reporting or inquiry purpose, you can go with custom Data entity or View.
But it's depended on the answer to my previous question.

    Thanks,
    Raj D Borad
