Learning Dynamics again: How to do it? Training materials, online courses?

Posted on by 4
Hi,

I have over 10 years of experience working with Dynamics NAV Classic. It was database version 3.6 and client version 5.1. My company made the strategic decision not to upgrade to newer versions due to insufficient resources.

Two years ago, I took a break from NAV and completed a college degree in mobile/web application design and development. I have a lot of experience with ReactJS, NextJS, NodeJS, Flutter, ReactNative, SwiftUI, and more. I was going to continue my career as a junior developer in Canada. However, the job market is not favorable for people with my skill set. I am considering going back to Dynamics, but I know I am outdated like a COBOL developer now.

I am proficient at C/AL and have no experience with AX. I also realized that there are many positions related to Dynamics CRM on the market.

I am looking to upgrade my skills in the Dynamics world. I want to use my time efficiently. Is there an online school I can attend? Online courses? Video series?

I think I should get familiar with the product again, and I also need programming classes.

I see that another post has already been responded to on this subject. I don't want to watch YouTube videos on the MS Dynamics channel. I can watch them if you think they are good.  I was looking for a more comprehensive solution, such as the video training series on PartnerSource, once I had access. YouTube sounds like general access to give some idea about the product..

Thank you for your help.

    Hi There,

This link provides a road map of all the certifications:

For each certification we have two options either we go with the self paced learning or instructor led. In your case the instructor led with work best.

    Thanks
    Affan

Before you can start looking for materials, you should have some idea about which product(s) you want to learn. The different products under the D365 umbrella still uses different architecture, programming languages and so on.

If you want to utilize your knowledge of NAV, note that the successor is called D365 Business Central.

But if you want to learn something new and utilize your new skills, I think that Power Platform and CRM may be a good direction. What I've heard from people focusing on Power Platform, they spend a significant amount of time by writing custom controls with React, which is something you already know. I mentioned Power Platform and CRM together, because Power Platform is partially based on CRM and you'll find many common things there.
