Add Total Dollar Amount To Pipeline chart
    Hi Divat,

    Thank you, very much appreciated!

    • What is the exact chart type you are currently using (e.g., Column Chart, Bar Chart)? It is called a pipeline chart and is in the shape of a funnel. It has multiple categories which are dependent on the status. All of these categories have a total associated with them.

    • What is the name of the field in the Opportunity entity that contains the dollar amount you want to display? The column is titled estimated revenue.

    Thank you

Add Total Dollar Amount To Pipeline chart
    Hello BM-15042131-0,

Okay, since you're using Dynamics 365 version 2018 (also known as Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement, version 9.x, but you specified 2018), the way you add the total dollar amount to your pipeline chart will involve using the built-in chart designer within Dynamics 365 itself.

Here's how you can do it:

    1. Navigate to the Area Where Your Chart is Located:

      • Open the relevant entity where your pipeline chart is based (most likely Opportunities).

      • Go to the Charts section.

      • Find and open the pipeline chart you created.

    2. Open the Chart Designer:

      • With the chart open, you should see a command bar. Click on the "Edit Chart" button. This will open the chart designer interface.

    3. Identify the Existing Series:

      • In the chart designer, you'll likely see one series already defined. This series is probably counting the number of opportunities in each stage of your pipeline (using a "Count" aggregation on the Opportunity).

      •

    4. Add a New Series for the Dollar Amount:

      • In the "Data" section of the chart designer (usually on the left or in a separate tab), look for an option to "Add Series" or "+ Add". Click this.

      •

    5. Configure the New Series:

      • Series Type: Choose the same chart type as your existing series (likely a Column or Bar chart).

      • Data Source:

        • Entity: Select Opportunity (the same entity as your existing series).

        • Attribute (X-Axis): Select the same field you used for the stages of your pipeline on the X-axis (e.g., "Sales Stage," "Pipeline Phase").

        • Aggregate (Y-Axis): This is the crucial part. Select the field that contains the dollar amount for your opportunities (e.g., "Estimated Value," "Total Estimated Amount," a custom currency field). Then, choose the "Sum" aggregation function. This will calculate the total dollar amount for all opportunities within each stage.

        •

    6. Formatting the New Series (Optional):

      • You can customize the appearance of this new series (e.g., color, chart type if you want a line overlaying the bars, etc.).

      • Data Labels: To display the total dollar amount directly on the chart, you'll need to configure Data Labels for this new series. Look for a "Labels" or "Data Labels" section in the series properties. Enable data labels and choose the aggregated dollar amount field to be displayed. You can also format the label to show currency symbols and appropriate decimal places.

      •

    7. Save Your Changes:

      • Once you have configured the new series and its formatting (including data labels if desired), click "Save" and then "Close" the chart designer.

      •

Important Considerations for Dynamics 365 (2018):

    • Chart Types: Ensure the chart type you choose for the dollar amount series complements your existing pipeline chart for readability (e.g., both as columns side-by-side or one as columns and the other as a line).

    • Data Labels Placement: Experiment with the placement of data labels to avoid overlap and ensure they are easy to read.

    • Y-Axis Labels: You might need to adjust the Y-axis labels to clearly indicate that one axis represents the count of opportunities and the other (if you use a different series type or a secondary Y-axis) represents the total dollar amount.

    • Single Series with Multiple Y-Values (Potentially): Depending on the chart type and the designer's capabilities in the 2018 version, you might be able to add the "Sum of Dollar Amount" as a second Y-value to your existing series and then configure the labels accordingly. Explore the options within the series configuration.

To help me give you more precise steps, could you tell me:

    • What is the exact chart type you are currently using (e.g., Column Chart, Bar Chart)?

    • What is the name of the field in the Opportunity entity that contains the dollar amount you want to display?

    •

With this information, I can provide more tailored instructions for the Dynamics 365 (2018) chart designer.

I'm not sure what you mean by version 2018, but since you are mentioning pipeline chart I almost assume it's D365 CRM / Sales.
I have moved your question to the customer engagement forum, hope you don't mind.
